    • One painting, many artists

    • Children participating in the Kern County Library's summer reading program “One World, Many Stories,” are painting a mural on the front of the Taft Branch Library. The youngsters are getting a lot of help. The program is a joint effort of the library, Arts Council of Taft and Imagination Laboratories. It's also getting help from others, including Friends of the Library and Cooper's True Value gave a discount on paint and supplies. “Renae Ginther was in charge of drafting the mural, as she has a degree in art,” said Leigh Golling of Imagination Laboratories. “We and the friends of the library hope that the mural is the first of many pieces of public art in Taft. There was an enthusiastic response to the project from local kids and the mural will probably be completed much faster than expected.”
