Funeral services will be held in the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home on Monday morning at 11:00 A.M. for Taft resident, Dudley Stout, 93. Burial will follow in the West Side District Cemetery. Mr. Stout was born the first of six sons to George and Claudia Stout in Broadview, New Mexico on April 13, 1915 and passed away in Bakersfield on February 25, 2009. The day after Pearl Harbor was attacked Mr. Stout volunteered in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the First Cavalry Division and accompanied the Army’s last pack mule team to New Guinea. After the war he attended Abilene Christian College where he received his Bachelor’s degree. Mr. Stout became an evangelist and preached in Texas, New Mexico, Kansas, Arizona, California, Oklahoma and Oregon. His ministry lasted over 65 years. Mr. Stout was a member of the Church of Christ. After his children were raised he and his late wife, Twylah-Belle, reared three of their grandchildren, He lived in Taft from 1959 to 1961 and returned to Taft in 1996. He was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers, Victor, Calvin and Wayne Stout and his wife of 67 years, Twylah-Belle Stout on March 29, 2005. Mr. Stout is survived by his daughter and her husband, Martoria and Fred Sherman; his son, George Royal Stout, Sr., all of Taft, his grandchildren, Deborah Ann Patton. Lisa Royal and Steve Maher, George Royal Stout, Jr., Hollie Cheree Stout and Celexy and Rico Adame; his 12 great grandchildren and his brothers, Fern Stout and his wife, Leta of Palm Desert and Billy Stout of New Mexico. Friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
