Highlighted by five run fifth Wildcats hand Eagles first league loss

The Taft varsity baseball team finally got their chance at revenge last Friday afternoon when they defeated the Bakersfield Christian Eagles 9-7 in their first win over the Eagles in league play.


The game seesawed back and forth with Bakersfield Christian taking the first lead at 1-0. After exchanging runs through the first four innings of the game, the Wildcats took the lead for good in the bottom half of the fifth inning when they scored five runs.


Bakersfield Christian made an attempt to get back into the game in the top of the seventh by scoring a run, but Taft held on for the victory.


Taft returns to action Tuesday when they host Tehachapi. The game begins at 4 p.m.
