Jeff Lemucchi to be guest speaker

The Kiwanis Club of Taft will be presenting its annual prayer breakfast at the OT Cookhouse on the National Day of Prayer on May 7 from 7 a.m to 8 a.m.
The theme of this year’s breakfast is The Joyous Life.

“Kiwanis International, our parent organization, encourages us to provide a time for community members to come together to reflect upon our blessings,” stated event chair Kathy Orrin.  “There will be other events in our community to commemorate the Day of Prayer.  We are hoping folks will start the Day with us.”

This year’s speaker is noted local television personality Jeff Lemucchi, formerly of KERN-AM radio and KBAK/KBFX-TV, who will bring a message of hope to community members.

Jeff was raised in Taft, worked after school at his dad’s Lemucchi’s Union Service Station, and graduated from Taft Union High School.

“It is always fun to have hometown ‘kids’ come back to speak.  It brings special encouragement to hear from one of our own who has become successful,” said Orrin, “I know he will encourage us all.”

“Do yourself a favor and take one hour to enjoy a good breakfast and to reflect upon how blessed we are,” Scott Pearson, committee member.

Tickets for the event are $10, and they may be purchased at either State Farm office, at True Value, or from any member of Kiwanis.
