Taft will play Washington Union in semifinals
Two big third quarter plays broke a close game wide open as Taft Union High School shut out Dos Palos 27-0 Friday night to move into the semifinals of the CIF Central Section Div. IV playoffs.
Cody Shirreffs went up the middle for a 63-yard touchdown run on the Wildcats’ first play of the second half to put Taft up 14-0 and Daniel Watts added a 77-yard run a few minutes as the Wildcats improved to 9-2 on the season.
Taft took a 7-0 lead into the lockerroom at halftime thanks to a 7-yard touchdown run by Brice Royal.
Starting quarterback Hunter Liljeroos went down with a knee injury in the third period and didn't return to the game.
The ‘Cats will play at Washington Union in Fresno next Friday. Washington Union beat Sierra 45-7.
Wasco was eliminated with a 27-0 loss to Exeter and Kingsburg, the heavy favorite in Div. IV, blasted Kerman 75-0.
