Wildcats outlast Shafter by nine to keep streak going
It might have been their toughest game in the past couple of weeks but the Taft varsity boys basketball team cleared another hurdle Tuesday evening when they defeated the Shafter Generals 59-50 in Shafter.
With the victory, Taft extends their winning streak to 10 while improving to 15-5 overall and 2-0 in the South Sequoia League.
Down 9-3 at the end of the first quarter Taft bounced back in the second quarter with an 18-10 run thanks to Hunter Liljeroos' tip in right before the buzzer to give Taft a 21-19 lead.
The Wildcats extended their lead at the end of the third quarter by holding a 39-33 advantage before eventually winning by nine.
