A funeral service was held in the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, January 25, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. for Taft resident, Henry “Hank” Ammeraal, 91, with interment in the West Side District Cemetery.

1918 – 2010

A funeral service was held in the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, January 25, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. for Taft resident, Henry “Hank” Ammeraal, 91, with interment in the West Side District Cemetery.  A luncheon was held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, A and Church Streets, following the burial.  Mr. Ammeraal was born on June 22, 1918 in Totowa, New Jersey to Christina DePater Ammeraal and Cornelius Ammeraal and passed away in Bakersfield on January 21, 2010.  Hank was the eighth of eleven brothers and sisters, raised in New Jersey; he then joined the U.S. Army and served a tour of duty in France and Germany during WW II where he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart.  He was stationed on the west coast where he met his wife of 63 years, Margaret Louise Jordan.  They moved to Taft in 1946 where they raised their son, Ron, daughter Vickie McPherson and son, Gary.  They are blessed with six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  Visitation was held on Sunday, January 24, 2010, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.  www.EricksonAndBrown.com
