Winner gets a leg up in the race for the top spot in the South Sequoia League
Usually when Taft and Tehachapi hook up and something is on the line, it has to do with football.
This time around it will be the varsity boys basketball teams that will take center stage tonight when the Wildcats host the Warriors in a battle for the top spot in the South Sequoia League.
Taft, which is ranked second behind Caruthers in the Division IV section and 24th in the Division IV State, will be going up against a Tehachapi team that is ranked sixth in the Division III Section according to www.maxpreps.com
There is something else on the line besides the lead in the standings. Taft, 16-5 overall and 3-0 in league play, enters the game with an 11-game winning streak while Tehachapi-12-6 overall and 1-0 in league play-heads into the contest with a three game winning streak.
The game along with the girls game Friday against Bakersfield Christian will be free for everyone.
Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
(Note: The Taft varsity boys basketball team extended their streak Friday when they eked out a 41-38 victory over Wasco at home. No other information is available).
