The game between the Taft and Tehachapi varsity boys basketball teams had everything a heavyweight battle needed like drama and excitement. One thing it didn't have was a Wildcat victory after the Tehachapi Warriors scored with one second left to defeat the Wildcats 61-59 in Taft.

The game between the Taft and Tehachapi varsity boys basketball teams had everything a heavyweight battle needed like drama and excitement. One thing it didn't have was a Wildcat victory after the Tehachapi Warriors scored with one second left to defeat the Wildcats 61-59 in Taft.
 
With the loss, Taft falls to 16-6 overall and 3-1 in the South Sequoia League.
 
Taft had an eary surge in momentum by scoring eight unanswered points to lead 10-3 in the first quarter. Tehachapi bounced back to take the lead but Taft regained a 12-11 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
 
It was Tehachapi's turn to have the offensive surge at the end the first half when they scored six straight points to lead 33-26.
 
Tehachapi threatened to pull away twice in the second half by leading 40-31 and 48-37 before Taft scored the final four points of the third quarter to trail 48-41.
 
The Warriors upped their lead to 14 early in the fourth quarter before the Wildcats stormed back to trail by one. Taft went on to tie the game at 59 before the Warrriors scored the winning basket.
