Larry enjoyed living and working in Taft for many years, graduating from Taft Union High School in 1956.  He retired from McFarland Energy after many years of working in the oil industry, as well as being a local entrepreneur.  He served in the National Guard earlier in life.  He was an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast, attending shows and races whenever he could.  He loved working on cars and would lend a helping hand to family and friends.  He and his wife, Leona, were longtime members of the Bakersfield T-Bird Club as well as past active members of the Taft College Football Booster Club.  He enjoyed RVing with his wife and friends, reading and relaxing.  Larry had many friends that he loved and spent time with; you could say he never met a stranger.  He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Don and Mildred Marcell.

He was a loving, caring husband and father who is survived by his wife, Leona; son, Steve Marcell and wife, Jamia of Bakersfield; daughter, Victoria Zdarko and husband, Tim of Bakersfield; daughter, Rebecca Solberg of Taft; grandson, Jeffrey Solberg of Bakersfield; stepchildren, Debbie Meyers and husband, Jim of Bakersfield, Tim Hill and wife, Lisa of Taft, Dan Hill and wife, Kalina of Texas; step grandchildren, Dusty and Gavin Leavitt, Shawn and Conner Hill.
