It all starts with Easter Egg hunter Saturday at A Street Park

 


The West Side Recreation and Park District kicks off its spring break of activities Saturday with the annual Easter egg hunt.


The Easter egg hunt gets underway at 10 a.m. at A Street Park but everyone should show up 15 minutes early.


Kids will have the opportunity to hunt for candy, plastic eggs and prizes in different areas and in age groups.


The Easter bunny will also be there and the event will go on rain or shine. Some special photo opportunities will be available for a small free. The event is open for kids aged of 2-8 years old and is free.


The next event will take place later that day when the Rec hosts a Junior High Dance at the Community Center Auditorium.


The event is open for those in the sixth to eighth grades and will be held between 7:30 to 10 p.m.


The dress is casual, drinks will be sold and music will be provided by Nick’s Mobile DJ. The cost to attend is $3 per person.


A couple of days later, the Rec will offer kids fun day at the Community Center Assembly Room. Kids fun day is open for kids between the grades of K-6 and will be held Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Join us for a fun day of games, movies, crafts, lunch, snacks and more. The cost is $8 per person and pre registration is required by March 26.


On Tuesday the Rec will hold sidewalk chalk art from 10-11 a.m. at the Community Center Parking Lot. The event is open to kids ages three and up and is free.


 Later Tuesday afternoon, the Rec will offer Candy Car Bingo from 2-3 p.m. at the Community Center Assembly Room.


The event is open for grades K-8 and is free.


The following day, the WSRPD will hold a barbecue lunch and movie at the Community Center Assembly Room from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. The event, which will have hot dogs, chips, drinks and the Disney movie “Old Dogs”, is $3 per person and is open for grades K-8.


On Thursday, WSRPD will offer Tie Dye T-Shirts from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Community Center Activity Building. Bring a new washed 100 percent cotton t-shirt. Kids are encouraged to wear old clothes. The cost is $4 per person and is open for kids between the third and eighth grades. Pre registration is required by March 31.


 Later Thursday afternoon the WSRPD will hold “Gross Grub” from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Community Center Auditorium. The activity is open for kids between the ages of 7-11 years old. The cost is $6 per person. Pre registration is required by March 31.


 The final activity of spring break is Friday, April 2 when the WSRPD holds board games and lunch from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The activity is open for kids between the grades of 1-8. Bring a sack lunch for a short lunch break. The activity is free.
