Mr. Dragoo was born on March 6, 1919 in Reynolds, Nebraska and passed away on March 20, 2010 in San Luis Obispo.  Eldon was a proud veteran from World War II as an Army Air Corps aircraft and engine mechanic, flight chief, aircraft inspector and an airplane maintenance technician in British Guiana and then in South Carolina and Florida.  Before and after his service time, he worked in several positions, before becoming a long-time worker in the oilfields, beginning in Wyoming.  He accepted a position with Honolulu Oil Company in Cody, Wyoming for one year before transferring to Taft in 1960.  He continued living and working for Honolulu, Tidewater and Getty Oil companies, as the mergers took place, in Taft and Bakersfield until his retirement from Getty in 1984.

He and his wife, Phyllis, moved back to Taft in 1996 and remained there until her health diminished in 2007.  After her passing in 2009, he moved to Atascadero until heart problems led to his move to a San Luis Obispo health center.

Eldon was preceded in death by his father, Carl Dragoo and his mother, Pearl Gregory Dragoo, his younger brother, Paul Dragoo and his wife, Norma, their daughter, Vickie, his grandson Mathew Brice Dragoo and by his wife, Phyllis McKillip Dragoo in 2009.  He is survived by his elder son, Gerald Dragoo and his wife, Leslie of Shell Beach, their daughter, Lara Eriksson and her husband, Daniel and Eldon's great grandson, Nicklas Eriksson of Soederhamn, Sweden; younger son, James Dragoo and his wife, Jeannie of Sparks, Nevada and Jim's daughter, Jennifer Rokes and her husband, David of San Jose and by his nephew Robin Dragoo and his wife, Joanne and their sons Scott and Chad of Lodi.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Taft Union High School Scholarship Fund, 701 Seventh Street, Taft, CA 93268, in Eldon's name would be appreciated.  Friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. and again on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. to 12 noon at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
