Young fighters from Taft take on clubs from around the county Saturday afternoon

 Next Step Cardio and Fitness will be hosting boxing matches Saturday afternoon to give some local boxers experience in the ring against fighters from clubs around Kern County.

It’s the first-ever boxing exhibition and will be held at Next Step Cardio and Fitness, 506 Center Street from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Ron Valdez has been training the young fighters and they will be in an exhibition against boxers from the Fairfax Boxing Club, Delano Boxing Club, Ten Count Boxing Club, and Retiz Refuse to Lose.

There is a $15 donation at the door for adults (children are free) and the money ill go to help support the Fresno Falcons of the National Public Safety Football League and a leukemia charity.
Taft Chief of Police Ken McMinn is going to be one of the judges and Kern County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Nance will fight as in a warm-up for the upcoming “Battle of the Badges.”
