Wildcats score both runs in fourth inning to win the game
The Taft junior varsity baseball team passed another pre-league test Tuesday afternoon when they outlasted the Bakersfield Christian Eagles 2-1 in Bakersfield.
“We’ve got to find our bats again,” said Taft coach Ted Pendergrass. “As a team we batted .154 with eight strikeouts.”
Bakersfield Christian made their only offensive strike in the bottom of the second inning by scoring a run. Taft countered in the top of the fourth inning thanks to leadoff singles from Trebor Williams and Mitchell Emberson. Williams went on to score on a passed ball with Emberson taking third.
Miguel Rodriguez knocked Emberson in with a sacrifice bunt.
Matt Strosnider pitched the first three innings, striking out two. Cody Reaves pitched four innings.
Taft returns to action Monday when they compete in the Wasco Tournament. The game begins at 9:45 a.m.
