Damage estimated at $150,000. Cause is under investigation
Fire gutted a Ford City home early Sunday.
Kern County firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming the garage and two rooms of a vacant home on the 100 block of Madison Street when the arrived after receiving the call at 1:24 a.m.
KCFD engines from around the Westside manned by 14 firefighters responded to the fire.
The first crews on scene started an interior attack on the fire while other crews climbed to the roof to ventilate the structure.
Total damage is estimated at $150,000.
No injuries were reported.
The cause is under investigation.
Neighbors said the home had been vacant since the occupant died some time ago.
