You Don’t Have to Be Perfect

You Don’t Have to Be Perfect

You know as women we wear so many hats. We are the caregivers of our families, the cook, the maid, the baby sitter; we work in the home and many outside the home. Often times our families and employers have high expectations of us, but you know I have found more than anything; I have higher expectations of myself than anyone else. I remember one time a friend asked me” whose standards are you trying to measure up to anyway?” I said “MINE.” I can’t even measure up to my own standards for myself, that’s pretty bad. But thank the Lord for His grace! He never expects any of us to be perfect. And you know what, it’s Ok not to have it all together!—I feel like I need to repeat that.—ITS OK NOT TO HAVE IT ALL TOGETHER!! II Cor; 12:9 says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness. In fact, God says in Jeremiah He knew us before we were formed in our mother’s womb. This means we are not a surprise to God. He knew everything we would ever say..Or not say everything we would do and not do! But He chose us anyway! Really think about that, however messed up you think you are.  God already knew it. But the awesome thing is He doesn’t focus on where we are right now, He looks at who He knows we are going to become. Nearly Every day I have to fight off thoughts of negativity, thoughts of discouragement, and thoughts of worthlessness. Every day the enemy comes in and whispers, something like, “you’re not good enough, you can’t get anything right, you don’t read like you’re supposed to..You don’t pray enough, when I lose my cool, he whispers, and you’re supposed to be a pastor! -----When that happens tell him to take a hike! Be patient with yourself your still a work in progress.  God says in Philippians 1; 6 “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. “  now I don’t know about you but I find that encouraging, because I know that no matter how bad I keep messing up, Gods not going to stop doing what he started, so eventually I am going to get a few things right;) Friends, we have to learn to love ourselves!! And except ourselves right where we are. I know most of us don’t even like ourselves half the time and let me tell you that is a tough spot to be in, because you can’t get away from yourself, your everywhere! But really one of the most important reasons we have to love ourselves is because we cannot love others the way Christ as commanded when we don’t love ourselves.  So I want to share with you, what God really thinks about you. Have any of you seen The Passion of the Christ? If so I want you to remember the part where he was beaten and the flesh was being torn from his body! Think about that!! Now I want to remind you that even if you were the only person on the planet………….he would still die for you! We need to know without a doubt that God is for us! We need to know deep down in our spirit that he will never leave us, no matter how many mistakes we make, no matter how many times we blow it. I believe there are some of you that have just gotten so overcome with life and the business of it that you have been left feeling completely empty and rundown. Everybody wants something from you and you have nothing left to give. I want to offer encouragement to you today, that if you are in that place where you just want to throw your hands up and say I quit. God has not forgotten you. Don’t get mad, resentful or lose hope. Instead, get hungry and get down on your knees and pray. Because when you do his love will find you. And the awesome thing is it doesn’t matter if it is your fault or not. No matter what we have done, no matter how badly we have “blown it”; we need to know that grace and mercy are available at the cross. Be blessed and encouraged! mywordshismessage@yahoo.com
