Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers Day!

You know, I was thinking about Father’s Day and for the most part I have pretty good feelings about the day. I have a wonderful husband who deserves the best on this special day for dads. I also have a great stepdad, who has been more of a father to me than my real dad. Yes I am your typical statistic. I am from a broken home and my mom remarried. And it was tough; it was just her and I for many years, but then she met an old family friend and fell in love. My step dad, aka “dad or daddy”. Yes, I still call my dad, “daddy” and I am a grown woman. But truth be told I never had a daddy growing up, so I relish the fact that I can call a man whom I trust and admire, “daddy.” And he doesn’t mind, after all I am his baby. So, it has never been difficult for me to imagine my heavenly father being good to me. But I am extremely sensitive to those who really don’t understand how to relate to a heavenly father when their earthly father beat them or abandoned them. Many people struggle with the correlation between an earthly father and a heavenly one. I think God really put himself out there when He chose to call himself, “Father”, fully knowing that many would struggle to believe in Him, simply because their earthly fathers were no good. But I know the heart of God and so I can say with all certainty it was never His intention for anyone to be abused, abandoned or ignored.  It is His heart that we would learn to believe in Him and to have the faith to believe that His intentions are worthy of our trust. No matter how unjustly we have been treated on earth we need to know that God is there when no one else is, He understands when no one else does.  He can be trusted when there’s no one left to trust. He will never mistreat us, He will never abandon us. His word speaks of this time and time again. While there is no perfect earthly father, Gods love is perfect. If we should draw any example as to what a real father should represent it should come from the character of Christ. I pray that if you don’t have an earthly Father to celebrate this day, that you will take the time to celebrate God as your heavenly father. So to all of you earthly dads young and old I say Happy Fathers Day! Enjoy your day and be blessed. Do you want your ministry featured?
