Deep budget cuts for the Kern County Library system will have a major effect on library hours in Taft,

cutting it back from being open 4 days a week to just three.

Starting in July, the Taft branch will be open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for a total of just 24 hours.

The new hours, which go into effect on July 3, will see the Taft branch open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

The new hours reflect a 25 percent cut for the local branch.

It is currently open Tuesday, Wednesday , Thursday and Saturday.
