Lady Indians defeat North County Christian while losing to Coast Union

The Maricopa junior varsity volleyball team had an up and down ride through their opening two matches of league play last after they defeated North County Christian while losing to Coast Union at home.



 

Maricopa got off to a strong start to begin the week when they defeated North County Christian 25-11 and 25-21 in Atascadero.



 

Reba Hampton and Claudia Devora each had 7 points served in the match while Devora had 1 kill. Courtney Downey had 6 digs in the match.



 

The Lady Indians experienced a heartbreaker in their return home last Thursday with a three set loss to Coast Union.


Maricopa lost the first match 25-11 but bounced back to take the second set 25-19. Coast Union outlasted Maricopa 15-11 in the third set to win the match.



 

Hampton led Maricopa in points served with 13 while Devora and Aleida Ibarra each had 9. Ibarra also had 4 aces. Downey led Maricopa in total hits with 6 while Ibarra and Devora each had 5. Downey had 2 kills in the match.


Downey led Maricopa in digs with 13 while Ibarra had 10. Hampton chipped in with 8.
