Activities planned leading up to football game against Garces
If your high school student is dressed in drag this week, don’t be worried.
It’s just a dress-up day at Taft Union High School as part of Homecoming Week(Oct. 4-8).
Monday is VH1 day (favorite musical artist), Tuesday is TV Guide (TV character), Wednesday is RuPaul Drag Queen day, Thursday is ESPN day (sports team) and Friday is “Jersey Shore” day.
On Monday, senior boys will play Tough Guy Volleyball at 6 p.m. in Mullen Gym. Admission costs $1.
Wednesday is the annual Powder Puff football game at 7 p.m. in Martin Memorial Stadium.
Admission costs $1. The homecoming king will be crowned at halftime.
The Great Race between seniors, juniors, sophomores, freshmen and staff will be held during the extended lunch Tuesday.
The junior varsity football team will play the Garces Rams Thursday at 7 p.m.
The varsity team will play Garces at 7 p.m.
Homcoming activities will take place just prior to the varsity game
Floats will circle the track at 6 p.m., followed by the homecoming queen candidates. The queen will be announced and will join the king on stage before the game begins.
Queen candidates are: Kelsie Burrows, Chelsea Dickard, Priscilla Figueroa, Nicole Frost and Vanessa Talavera. King candidates are: Craig Curtis, Peter Galvan, Daniel Ortiz, Curtis Walchock and Daniel Watts.
The homecoming dance will be held after the game. Cost is $7 with an Associated Student Body sticker; $10 without.
