Both get jail terms after pleading no contest

Two Maricopa residents arrested in  connection with several burglaries in a Taft residential neighborhood two months ago have been sentenced to jail.
Kristy Ann Burton, 29, and Brandon Burton, 28, received 90-day and 30-day sentences after pleading no contest to possession of stolen property,
They entered the pleas on June 7 and were sentenced in Taft branch of Kern County Superior Court.
Kristy Burton was arrested by Taft Police on April 5 while officers were investigating several reports of auto thefts and  prowlers in the area Third Street,  Robin Way, Village Way and Bell Avenue in the early morning hours of April 5.
She was driving a pickup with several freshly-filled gas cans in the bed, officers said.
Brandon Burton was not arrested a the time, but both were charged on April 15.
Both defendants were also placed on three years probation.
