First tournament begins July 9

The West Side Recreation and Park District has one idea as they hold a series of horseshoe tournaments and leagues over the next several months.
Before the tournaments and leagues begin the WSRPD will host a meet and greet on Thursday, June 30 from 6-8 p.m., at the Franklin Fields Horseshoe Pits-Pavilion 1. On that night people can register fo tournaments, league play or meet and greet fellow pitchers.
Up first on the competitive calender is the Horseshoes and Hot Dogs Tournament at Franklin Field Complex on Saturday, July 9. The cost is $30 per team and the format is doubles. The start of the tournament begins at 9 a.m. Registration runs until Thursday, June 30.
The first league season begins Wednesday, Aug. 3 at the Moose Lodge. The season will also be held Aug. 13, 17 and 27 with the championship taking place on Saturday, Sept. 3. The cost is $50 per team and the format is doubles. Start times on Wednesday are at 7 p.m., while start times on Saturday are at 9 a.m. Registration runs until Thursday, July 28.
Tournament action returns Saturday, Aug. 20 with the Summer Melt Down Tournament at the Franklin Field Complex. The cost is $20 per person and is a singles format. The start time is 9 a.m. Registration runs from July 11-August 11.
The first tournament of the fall season will take place Saturday, Sept. 17 with the Fall Fest Tournament at the Moose Lodge. The cost is $30 per team and the format is doubles. Starting time is set for 9 a.m. Registration runs from Aug. 15-Sept. 9.
A little over a month later, the WSRPD will offer the Play at Your own Risk Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Moose Lodge. The cost is $30 per team and the format is doubles. Starting time is set for 9 a.m. Registration runs Sept.12-Oct. 4.
League action will return Nov. 2 with the Turkey Challenge. League will take place Nov.9, 16, 30 and Dec. 7 at Franklin Field Complex. The cost is $50 per team with the format being doubles. Starting time is 6 p.m. Regstration runs from Sept.5-Oct.24.
