Funeral services will be held in the Taft  First United Methodist Church on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. for Lois A. Johnson, 100.  Mrs. Johnson was born in Walnut Grove, Missouri on April 24, 1911 and passed away in Bakersfield on June 18, 2011.

Funeral services will be held in the Taft  First United Methodist Church on Monday, June 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. for Lois A. Johnson, 100.  Mrs. Johnson was born in Walnut Grove, Missouri on April 24, 1911 and passed away in Bakersfield on June 18, 2011.  Mrs. Johnson was primarily a homemaker, but worked at the Lindstrom Chicken Hatchery in Clinton, Missouri for 13 years before coming to California in 1940.  Mrs. Johnson was a devoted member of the Taft First United Methodist Church.  She was active with the United Methodist Women and held several different offices over the years.  She was very explicit that she be buried with her UMW pin.  Mrs. Johnson loved to shop for clothes and was renowned in the family for seemingly endless shopping trips where each item had to be slowly and carefully examined.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Johnson.  Mrs. Johnson is survived by eight brothers and sisters; she was the oldest of 12 children.  She is also survived by her daughter, Diane Baldwin of Palo Alto; two grandsons, Chris of Mountain View and Bryan of Sacramento and two great granddaughters, Elena and Isabel of Sacramento.  She will be greatly missed, especially by her brothers and sisters with whom she maintained strong and loving ties through the years.  The family would like to express their profound thanks to the staff at Hallmark and to Optimal Hospice for their loving care of Mrs. Johnson.  In lieu of flowers the family has suggested that donations in Mrs. Johnson’s memory may be made to Taft First United Methodist Church.  There are no visitation hours scheduled and the arrangements are under the direction of the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.   www.EricksonAndBrown.com
