Lady Wildcats defeat Frontier

It might be the hot days of August, but the Taft girls golf team are already on a roll after they captured their second victory in a week with a 268-279 victory over the Frontier Titans Thursday afternoon at Buena Vista Golf Course.

“I’m happy to report that seven of the eight girls who played yesterday bettered their scores from the previous day,” said Taft coach Mike Cowan. “We showed improvement on and around the greens, where we need it the most. We’ll keep focusing on the short game and I’m confident that our scores will keep going lower.”

Taylor Kurtz shot the lowest round of the day for the Lady Wildcats with a 48. Kennedy Sorensen was one stroke back while Arizona Pilgrim shot a 53.

Josey Burke, Kristina Downey and Raegan Sorensen each shot a 59 while Jesekah Rogers and Allison Milner each shot a 64.

Meanwhile, Frontier’s lowest score was a 51.

Taft returned to action Monday with the Golden Valley Tournament. The Lady Wildcats open the South Sequoia League mini tournament schedule Wednesday at Riverlakes.
