Tentative agreement means Taft Albertsons won't be closing
Grocery unions and the owners of three major chains have reached a tentative agreement, and that means Taft's Albertsons store will not be closing.
Albertsons and Ralphs Supermarkets officials had threatened to close their stores if the United Food and Commercial Workers Union went on strike.
However, after lengthy negotiations, a tentative deal was announced late Monday morning.
A strike deadline passed Sunday night but union and management officials stayed at the bargaining table and there was not walkout or lockout, unlike 2003 when some union members walked out and others were locked out for a 141-day strike.
