Riders crashed-head on in Ventura County. Several others injured
Two Southern California motorcyclists were killed when their motorcycles collided head-on on Highway 33 in Ventura County Sunday.
Three other riders were seriously injured in the crash which occurred at 12:26 p.m. south of Lockwood Valley Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The riders were part of two groups that were heading in opposite directions on the highway.
One rider, Orlando Castellon, 19, of Lancaster, lost control of his motorcycle and it crossed over into oncoming traffic and collided with another motorcycle ridden by Gary Shanks, 54, of Simi Valley.
That crash resulted in other motorcycles going down.
The CHP reported as many as six bikes went down in the crash.
Shanks was pronounced dead at the scene.
Castellon was airlifted to a Ventura County hospital where he later died.
Three other riders suffered serious injuries.
