Slight cooling trend in store Sunday and Monday

There's a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms Friday afternoon and evening in the Taft area, but don't expect much rain if one does hit.
The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for dry lightning.
The warning covers the Kern County Mountains and the Temblor Range as well as the Carrizo Plain-California Valley area.
The NWS says there is enough mid level moisture and instability in the atmosphere to triggers isolated storms, but the lower levels of the atmosphere are very dry and any rain that does fall will most likely evaporate before hitting the ground.
Very dry fuel on the ground, dry lightning and the potential for gusty winds have heightened the fire danger and prompted the red flag warning.
Some cooling from the unseasonably hot weather is expected  by the end of the weekend.
Daytime highs will drop to the low 90s Sunday and Monday before warming back to the mid 90s by midweek.
