But it's going to be hot for a couple of days at least

Even while the chances of showers and even thunderstorms for the area later in the week seems to be evaporating, there are indications that much cooler weather and a chance of widespread rain could be coming by the middle of next week.
If it materializes, it would put an end to an early fall heatwave that is expected to push temperatures to near 100 Wednesday and Thursday.
Right now the forecast is for only a slight chance of showers Friday night and Saturday, but temperatures will begin to moderate by Friday, dropping to about 90 degrees.
By the weekend, the afternoon highs should drop down into the low 80s as a weather disturbance moves through.
That will set the stage for another, potentially stronger and wetter storm to move in next week and by Tuesday the expected high is only 77 with lows dropping into the 50s in the early morning hours.
Forecasters are watching to see how strong next week's storm is and say it could be a winter-like storm with rain for the valley and snow for the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada.
