Taft's Micky Foley is a member of the Buena Vista Ladies Club
By the time most people get up into their later years, they usually prefer to lead a quiet life.
That is not the case for Buena Vista Ladies Club member Micki Foley, who cel- ebrated her 90th birthday in early October.
According to Carolyn Hosking, Foley has been a member of the club for 51 years and plays two times a week.
“She is very spry and gets around great,” said Hosking.
On her birthday, Foley shot a 103 and had a 96 a couple of weeks back.
She says she usually shoots in the high 90’s and low 100’s. She also was Buena Vista Founder ’s Day champion three years ago and was club champion five times during the 80’s.
“She still has a full swing that most younger people have trouble with,” said Hosking.
However, Foley had a setback when she fell and injured her hip several weeks ago.
She recovered from her injury and is back playing two days a week.
Foley and her husband Joe have lived in Taft since 1955 and have been married for 65 years.
The Buena Vista Ladies Golf Club tees off every Wednesday at 9 a.m. Women of all ages are invited to join.
