Taft College was seeded 11th in the northern California basketball playoffs and will travel to Rocklin Saturday for a 7 p.m. date with the No. 6 seed Sierra College Wolverines.
The Cougars finished the regular season with a 19-9 overall and 7-3 in the Central Valley Conference behind champion Fresno, which completed its fifth consecutive perfect league campaign.
Four Cougars were named to the All-Central Valley Conference team, and head coach Tyrone Taylor was named co-coach of the year.
Demmi Nunn, a 5-9 sophomore guard who played at Bakersfield Christian High, and Summer Webb, the Cougars’ 5-5 freshman point guard, were named first-team All-CVC.
Selected for the second team were two more Bakersfield products – 5-10 sophomore forward LaVera Robertson (Stockdale High) and 6-foot center Maurissa Morones (West High).
Taylor and Fresno’s Brian Tessler were named co-coaches of the year.
Nunn averaged 12 points a game and was the team leader in assists with 99 for an average of 3.5 per game.  Webb led the team in scoring with an 18-per game average.
They also led the team in three-point shots.  Webb had 67 and Nunn 63.

Morones averaged eight points a game and seven rebounds.  She came on strong at the end of the season, scoring 19 points and grabbing nine rebounds in the season finale last Saturday.
Sierra College finished in a tie for second in the Big 8 Conference with an 11-3 record (21-8 overall).  The Wolverines have won 20 games or more in five of the last six seasons.
