Cold weather sytem dropped snow on Highway 166
The weather is clearing and warming just a bit after a cold storm blew through the area Monday, dropping rain in Taft and snow just a couple of thousand fee higher in the Temblor Range.? Snowfall got so low that Caltrans deployed a snow plough on Highway 166 Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Snow also closed I-5 over he Grapevine.
The storm left a dusting of snow along the temblor range by midday Monday but only a little it was left Tuesday morning and that was rapidly melting.
Taft got about .30 of an inch of rain Monday, bringing the season total to 3.00 inches.
There is a slight chance of showers Wednesday night (only 20 percent) and clear to partly cloudy skies are expected through the rest of the week with a significant warming trend though the weekend and into early next week that will warm daytime highs into the 70s.
