Lady Wildcats go 3-1-1 in Bakersfield, blasting Shafter, Mira Monte and West

There's something about tournaments and early season success for the Taft varsity softball team. It continued this past weekend after the Lady Wildcats won three out of five games in the Bakersfield Tournament.

The Wildcats outscored their opponents 39-0 in the three games they won

Taft had their only tie of the tournament after tying Garces 1-1 in the first game Thursday. Kelsey Wilmer and Caitlyn Emberson had the lone hits for the Lady Wildcats.

The Lady Wildcats took off from there after defeating Shafter 12-0 in the second game before handing Mira Monte a 16-0 loss Friday. Haylee Tracy and Christie Rogers each went 2-for-3 in the game against Shafter while Tracy went 3-for-4 in th egame against Mira Monte.

Taft continued their run late Friday afternoon with an 11-0 victory over West. Caitlyn Emberson and Halle Neher each went 2-for-3. Arizona Pilgrim had her third one hitter while striking out nine batters.

The Lady Wildcats ended their run on a sour note with a 1-0 loss to Centennial. Taft had only four hits in the game.
