Taft offense scores 11 runs while Pilgrim allows only two hits
The Taft varsity girls softball team continued their early season success in Bakersfield Thursday afternoon with an 11-0 victory over the Highland Scots.
Taft had an opportunity to break the game open in the first and second innings by loading the bases each time. However, the Lady Wildcats came away empty handed each time thanks to a double play in the first inning and strikeout in the second.
The Lady Wildcats broke the game open in the third inning with four runs highlighted by Clarissa Rivas' run scoring double. After a quiet fourth, Taft scored two runs in the fifth, one in the sixth and four in the seventh to seal the victory.
Meanwhile, Arizona Pilgrim allowed two hits while striking out 12 in seven innings.
