  • Taft High fans and players breathed a big sigh of relief Monday afternoon after they pulled out a dramatic 4-3 victory over the Golden Valley Bulldogs on the first day of the Spring Bash.
    The Wildcats nearly took the first lead of the game in the last half of the second inning on back-to-back singles from Caleb Lopez and Steven Gee. Both followed by stealing stealing a base but were stranded after the final three batters were retired.
    Taft finally broke through an inning later on a walk, a fielder's choice and an error.  After Golden Valley tied the score in the fifth, the Wildcats took the lead with a two out, two run homer.Golden Valley bounced back in their half of the sixth with a pair of singles and an error. However, Taft had the final say in the bottom of the seventh inning with an error, an intentional walk and two singles.
