Cliff, “Spiffy Cliffy” as he was known by many of his family and friends, will be laid to rest on Thursday, April 12, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in the West Side District Cemetery in Taft, CA.  Cliff was born on November 28, 1951 in the city of Taft and passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2012 in Taft.  Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home in Taft.  Cliff graduated from Taft Union High School, DeVry Technical School in Arizona and attended ASU.  He was employed by Veneco Oil, Exxon Mobil to name just a few along with his own company, CT Enterprises LLC.  Cliff was currently employed by Gill Ranch Storage in Madera, CA.  Cliff, without a doubt, loved racing—a true NHRA fan from the word GO!  He was a huge NASCAR fan and truly enjoyed anything to do with racing.  If it had wheels Cliff loved and watched it.  However, as we all know, this might have come in second to the love affair he had with politics.  He served 10 years on the Taft City Council, two years of which he proudly served as Mayor.  Through meetings in Bakersfield, Kern County and Sacramento, Cliff was truly honored to have met some of the most wonderful and interesting mayors and officials.  He was especially proud of his photo with then Assemblyman Kevin McCarthy taken in Sacramento.  He claimed a piece of highway to call his own and enjoyed his time with friends with highway cleanups.  He was proud of the work he did to help on the Safety Corridor for Highway 119, his work with the Taft Chamber of Commerce and chaired a wonderful Taft Gala.  He was a New Year's Eve designated driver, delivered meals for the holidays and was always available seven days a week to those who had questions.  Cliff is predeceased by his father, Roy and two brothers, Tommy and Mike.  He is survived by his sister, Kay; and his wonderful and dear mother, Jessie Orlena Thompson.  And remember, “How's your buddy, how's your pal  . .  Spiffy Cliffy?”  He will truly be missed.  To convey condolences or sign an online registry, please visit www.EricksonAndBrown.com.
