A graveside memorial service will be held in the West Side District Cemetery on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. for Mary Ellen Deeds, 75. Chaplain Craig Amos will officiate. Mrs. Deeds was born on May 21, 1938 in San Fernando, California and passed away quietly in Bakersfield on March 28, 2012 with her family and close friends by her side. Prior to becoming ill, Mrs. Deeds was employed by Transwest Security for 19 years at Elk Hills, Gate 3, in the position of security guard, a job in which she took great pride. She loved her pets—her parrots and chihuahuas. She was predeceased by her parents, mother, Consuelo Ramirez and father, Candelario Ramirez and her husband, Richard Deeds. Mrs. Deeds is survived by her daughters, Linda Golden and husband, Mike, and Velda Long and fiance, Joe; her grandchildren, Justin Burch, Jimmy Golden, Alexis Long and Alexis' father, Bill Long; Mary Ellen's surviving sister, Violet Ridenour and husband, Al; and several nieces and nephews. Mary also leaves behind her dearest friends who were with us during this difficult time, Jan, Fay, Ray, Rosita, Izi and Pascual. God bless all of you. There are no visitation hours scheduled and the arrangements are under the direction of the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home. To convey condolences, please visit www.EricksonAndBrown.com.
