Born in Ford City, California in November of 1927.
Pete attended school K-12 and Taft College. She was a secretary at Southern California Gas Co. for 17 years and editor of the Gas Co. newsletter. She was always active in “Desk and Derrick” club. She had four brothers; Irving “Snuffy” Smith, Merle Smith, Gale and Werner “Bud” Smith all longtime residents of the Taft area. She also had a sister, Betty Metzgeu of Loash.
Moving overseas, she and James lived outside the United States for 20 years. While James worked for Occidental Oil Co. they lived in Tripoli Libya, Tourremolinos Spain and Abeerdeen Scottland.
They moved to Morro Bay in 1985, they loved the Central Coast. Pete had a wonderful worldwide life and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Pete is survived by her husband of 65 years, James William; son, Stephen James; two granddaughters Jamie Rene and Carli Marie Tweedy.
