State senator asks controller and treasurer to review poposal sent to Gov. Brown
Senator Jean Fuller (R-Bakersfield) sent a letter to State Controller John Chiang and Treasurer Bill Lockyer Thursday, calling on both to evaluate whether the budget proposal that the Governor will receive from the Legislature is balanced.
“I believe in an honest and open budgetary process. Because the majority party has failed to make information available for public review, I have asked State Controller Chiang and Treasurer Lockyer to review the budget proposal that the Governor will receive and make a clear and swift opinion on whether it is a balanced budget.
“I sit on the Senate Budget Committee and have spent the last six years fighting for a balanced budget, which Californians deserve. These ‘take it or leave it’ budgets have been unbalanced, built on gimmicks, and are neither transparent nor honest. Therefore, it is crucial that the top two fiscal officers of our state review and express an opinion about whether or not this budget is balanced,” said Senator Fuller.
