Fire broke out near Ozena campground in Ventura County Saturday
Fire broke out near the Ozena campground Saturday afternoon, burning more than 200 acres and forcing the evacuation of nearby Camp Scheideck.
The fire started near the camp off Lockwood Valley Road several miles east of Highway 33 in Ventura County.
Numerous firefighters from the United States Forest Service, Kern County and Ventura County were sent to the fire and were aided by several air tankers and water dropping helicopters.
Estimates of the size ranged up to 250 acres by nightfall.
There was no immediate estimate when the fire would be contained.
No injuries have been reported but a small outbuilding and vehicle were burned by the flames.
There were 30 to 40 people in cabins at Camp Scheideck when the fire started and they were forced to leave along with at least one resident living near Lockwood Valley.
