The most impossible obstacles can always be overcome. Taft High athletes Yeraldine Berrera, Samantha Morrow and Cesar Guerrero found that out over the past couple of weeks by raising enough money to compete in the USATF National Junior Olympic championships this coming week in Maryland.
"They did a phenomenal job raising the money," said Taft coach Pete Lango.
All totaled, the three athletes raised $3500 with Morrow and Guerrero leaving for Maryland Saturday morning.
Despite raising the money, Berrera had to back out and Morrow and Guerrero will be the only ones going.
The championship will go from July 23-29 at Hughes Stadium on the campus of Morgan State University. Morrow will compete Monday and Tuesday in the heptathlon while Guerrero will compete in the steeplechase Thursday.
