Saturday's racing will have purse of at least $3,000
It's going to be the biggest racing night of the summer Saturday night at Franklin Field arena for the Taft Arenacross Summer Series pro-am race.
Riders from around the area will be competing for a cash purse of at least $3,000 and maybe much, much more as sponsorship money keeps coming in.
If enough money comes in, riders that finish all the way down to 6th place could earn up to $150.
The pro-am is sponsored by Hot Taps Services, NTS Incorporated, Accelerated Environmental, R&D Motorsports and Taft Midway Driller.
The pro-am riders will be racing in two motos with the winners determined by combined overall finish.
If enough riders enter, there may be heat races, though.
The pro-am will be part of an overall evening of races with riders chasing points in the fifth round of the six-round series that ends on Aug. 18.
The cost for all the fun is still just a $5 gate fee.
Gates open at 3 p.m. and the racing starts at 6 p.m.
There will be a an important fundraiser at the pro-am as well. Chevron employees, working in conjunction with the Children's Miracle Network, will be raising money for Bakersfield Memorial's pediatric unit. They will be manning a booth, accepting donations and raffling off prizes. There will also be a 50-50 drawing to raise money.
