Now that Labor Day has come and passed, thoughts turn to fall activities and traditions like the Taft Sportsmen’s Club’s 18th Annual Junior Pheasant Hunt this November 17th and 18th.
The annual hunt is a family event and a chance for young hunters to become acquainted with safe gun practices, learn respect for the environment, work with hunting dogs and practice skills necessary to become a safe and successful sportsman.
Four options to hunt will be offered over a two day span. The first is Saturday morning from 8 a.m.-noon with registration taking place from7-8 a.m. The second option is Saturday afternoon from 1-5 p.m., with registration taking place from 12-1 p.m.
The same options and times are available for Sunday.
There is no charge to take part and is open to all hunters with a junior hunting license (16 and under).
Signups are presently underway and will run until Wednesday, Nov. 14 or until the hunts are filled up.
The Taft Sportsmen’s Club is pleased to offer this junior hunt in conjunction with the California Department of Fish and Game, Game Bird Heritage Program and the Taft friends of the NRA.
