Wildcats celebrate first win of the season

The Taft Union High School Wildcats and their fans finally got something to celebrate Friday when the 'Cats got their first victory of the season with a 34-14 victory over the Corcoran Panthers.

Taft didn't wait to take control of the game.

Joseph Sanchez ran 25 yards for the Wildcat's first touchdown less than 3 minutes into the first period.

Matua Iakopo added to the Wildcat lead late in the first quarter with a 10-yard touchdown run.

Quarterback Vaughn Richardson and wide receiver Steve Gee teamed up again in the second quarter for a 65-yard touchdown pass play.

Corcoran finally broke through late in the first half to cut the lead. However, by the end of the first half Taft had 255 total yards to the Panther's 109 yards and led 21-7.

Taft added a touchdown in the third quarter and one in the fourth while Corcoran scored one in the fourth.

Taft is now 1-3 heading in to its South Sequoia league opener.
