It's second win in a row for Taft
Taft Union High School is starting to turn its season around Wildcats defeated the Arvin Bears 23-9 in Arvin Friday night in the South Sequoia League opener.
It was the second win in a row after the 'Cats opened the season with three straight losses.
The game didn't start well for the Wildcats when a botched snap on a punt led to a Bears safety at the 8:19 mark of the first quarter. Arvin fed off that five plays into their next series when Orlando Perez ran 10 yards for a touchdown.
Taft caught a break late in the second quarter when they recovered a botched punt at the Arvin 13.
Two plays later Vaughn Richardson completed a pass to Steven Gee for a touchdown. The score stood until the Wildcats took the lead on a 42-yard field goal in the third quarter.
The Wildcats added to their lead in the fourth quarter with an 18-yard run before Richardson capped the scoring when he passed to a wide open Gee who ran for a touchdown.
