Victim is recovering

Kern County Sheriff's deputies are continuing their investigation into the stabbing in Taft Heights last week that sent a man to Kern Medical Center.

The victim, identified by by deputies as Pete McCarthy, is recovering from his wounds.

No arrests have been made, Sgt. Martin downs said, the the investigation is ongoing.

McCarthy was stabbed Friday about 1:30 p.m. in his home at 526 B Street.

He told deputies he was confronted by an intruder who stabbed him in the chest.
McCarthy also suffered a defensive wound on his hand.

Parkview School was placed on lockdown briefly while deputies and Taft Police searched the area.
