Taft Police have made an arrest in the felony hit-and-run crash Sunday night that seriously injured a Taft man.
Police arrested a man identified as Victor Gutierrez about 10 a.m. in the 200 block of Woodrow Street, 12 hours after the pedestrian was struck in the 300 block of South Tenth Street.
The victim of the crash identified as Conrad Embry, 19, was still in the intensive care unit at Kern Medical Center Monday, Aranda said
Taft Police Lt. Pete Aranda said a tip led police to the suspect and the vehicle.
"A concerned citizen who was driving in the area of the 200 block of Woodrow glanced over and saw a vehicle parked there," Aranda said. "He noticed the window had been damaged."
That person called police and they subsequently arrested Gutierrez.
Embry was walking north along South Tenth Street at North Street when he was struck about 10 p.m. Sunday.
Aranda said video cameras recorded the impact and the suspect vehicle fleeing the scene.
