Taft joins 26 other schools at UCLA-Oregon State football game
Forty-three members of the Taft Union High School band and color guard joined 26 other high school bands and the UCLA marching band in a performance at UCLA's game with Oregon State at the Rose Bowl.
The bands performed "America the Beautiful," "The UCLA fight song" and "The Bruin Fanfare."
"We try to go to a college game every two years. Two years ago, the band performed at a Fresno State game," band director Amanda Posey said. "We chose to go see a UCLA game to honor Andrew Lund (a Taft band alumni) who moved into his dorm room at UCLA that day."
"We had front row seats in the end zone for the game," Posey added. "The band left at 5 a.m. and got back about 8 p.m. It was super hot and a long day but we had a great time. It was a great experience."
