Early morning accident snarls morning traffic
The driver of a boom crane escaped serious injury when the truck overturned on Highway 119 near Valley Acres during the heaviest traffic of the morning commute on Wednesday.
Traffic on Highway 119, which was going to be held up starting an hour later by construction anyway, was brought to a complete halt for more than a half hour and limited to one-way traffic until about 9 p.m. when the wreckage was cleared.
The crane was southbound on the highway just south of Airport Road. Reports from the scene indicate the vehicle drifted onto the shoulder where the dirt is very soft and rolled, landing on its wheels with the big crash pulled from the body of the truck.
The driver walked away from the crash.
