Lady Wildcat varsity will take on Bakersfield Christian Tuesday

The Taft High girls’ varsity tennis team hosts Bakersfield Christian at 4 p.m. Tuesday in a showdown for the league title. Taft at 9-0 is looking to sweep BCHS, 7-1, while the Eagles are after revenge following a 5-4 loss on their home court five weeks ago.

Taft’s varsity boys’ and girls’ tennis teams had a 0-33 record against the perennial powerhouse over the past nine years before the victory this season.

“This should be a great match for the players and spectators as Taft tries to go undefeated and win its first league title in history and BCHS tries to get a win to share the league title,” Taft coach Jim Carnal said. “The match features many of the top players in the league.”

Taft’s JV, which is also undefeated in league, plays at BCHS at the same time.
