graveside funeral service will be held in the West Side District Cemetery on Thursday, October 4, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. for longtime Taft resident, Jonathan “J.E.” Chambers, 89. Jonathan went to be with our Lord on September 28, 2012. He was born on November 13, 1922 in Bastiste, Oklahoma to William and Meacie Chambers. He was a veteran of WW II. Before he enlisted, he was a coal miner. His rank was U.S. Army, PFC, 381st Engr, CBT BN; WW II – Europe 1944-1945, Pacific 1945. Medals, GCM, EAME with Batt. Star, HPCM with Batt Star, Philippine Victory Ribbon. He was honored by having his name engraved on the “Wall of Honor” Veterans Memorial at Washington Park Mall. After coming home, he worked for Standard Oil and retired in 1973 due to health issues. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sister, and the love of his life, his wife, Dora, daughter, Betty, son, John and grandson, Gregory. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Beard and her husband, Ken; his son, Darrell Chambers and his wife, Julia; his grandchildren, Lisa Tweedy and her husband, Lance, Kenny Beard and his wife, Debbie, Kimberley Rawles, Jennifer Grijalva and her husband, Dan, Justin Chambers, Jeff Rubright and his wife, Vallorie; his great-grandchildren, Lindsay Kendall and her husband, Chad, Stephanie Beard, Christopher Beard, Brandon Rawles, Karissa Rawles, Alex Stearman, Kaleb Grijalva, Tyler Royal, Bryndon and Preston Rubright; his great-great-grandchildren, Jayden Beard, Lyrik and Makenna Kendall; and a special adopted son, Gary Simmons. He loved being with his family and his family loved and adored him. He was also a hero in our eyes and always will be. Our family will never be the same without this beautiful loving caring man, be we will never forget everything he taught us. He will be in our hearts and memories forever.
